Shawn Steward Honored as Wichita 40 Under 40
 WICHITA, Kan. – September 26, 2008 – Shawn Steward, PR Director of Associated and generally awesome person, was canonized a Wichita 40 Under 40 honoree by the Wichita Business Journal at a dinner held in honor of all recipients on Thursday, September 25.
While it turns out there are more than 40 people under 40 in Wichita, this award verifies that Steward is more special than the rest. Steward bested 160 nominees from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds to be one of this year’s winners. Steward distinguished himself by his community service, career accomplishment and career path.
“Shawn is among the best Wichita has to offer, and he still will be when he’s over 40,” says Mike Snyder, Associated’s CEO. “We worried this award might go straight to his head so we’ll just tease him for the next couple weeks to keep him in check.”
Steward, with almost 20 years of public relations experience, has been with Associated as PR Director for nearly five years. He joined Associated from the American Cancer Society, working out of their headquarters in Atlanta. Steward, something of a “jock strap” for the agency, oversees the public relations department and ensures solid public relations thinking and tactics are in place for the agency and its clients.
To honor Steward and have some fun at his expense, the agency feted its latest celebrity with a collection of ads designed to keep Steward’s ego in check.
When asked how he felt about the collection, Steward directed people to call his “people” and pointed out that he “has a thing.”
